12 Day Without Comcast - Day Three
Written by jonathan on December 8, 2008 – 12:00 pm -If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!
I spent the day away from home, so I didn’t really miss not having the internet or TV. My wife and I went with the family to the Christmas Open Houses in Kouts, Indiana.
After that we drove on through the country and came across Hessler Tree Farm - where we got our Christmas Tree. It was only $15! Pretty cheap. Thankfully my parents bankrolled the whole day, which was nice since we obviously didn’t have money!
We then made our way to North Judson, Indiana and paid a visit to Baily’s Discount Center and Richard’s of Toto. We needed lights for the tree and got a couple cheap things we needed for the house.
It was snowy and pleasant, the drive home was nice. When we got home, we spent the evening decorating our tree then watched some Christmas movies.
Overall, we had a pretty fulfilling day without Comcast.
I never heard back from @comcastcares on Twitter. I don’t expect to.

12 Days Without Comcast - Day One
Written by admin on December 6, 2008 – 12:22 pm -My Comcast TV and Internet has been shut off. Let me explain. Due to the way my pay cycles worked over the past few weeks, I had to choose to pay rent and buy groceries instead of pay the Comcast bill.
I had hoped it wouldn’t get shut off, it being the holidays and all. But sure enough, on Thursday night, while I was working, the Internet went out along with the TV. Great.
I don’t get paid until December 16th.
It’s going to be a long 12 days.
I tried to get a reprieve on Twitter by reaching out to @comcastcares. I explained that I’ve been a long time customer, love their service and don’t intend on going anywhere. I assured them the bill would be paid on the 16th. But to no avail @comcastcares doesn’t seem to care.
TV I can live without, I rarely watch it anyway. It’s the Internet that is the problem. I won’t be able to work on my web projects and build my blogs. My wife won’t be able to do her homework and it’s finals week coming up.
So, until the 16th, my only access to the Internet is via my trusty iPhone. I can blog lightly from it and I intend to write everyday until the 16th about our experience living without Comcast for so long.
Maybe we’ll find out we don’t need it after all.

The $100 Mark
Written by jonathan on October 6, 2008 – 7:45 pm -Last week I broke an important milestone. I reached the $100 mark in Google Adsense revenue. What does this mean? Well, it means I will actually get paid this month.
$100 is not much to shake a stick at, but I’m quite proud. It represents months of hard work in writing content and setting up various websites. I’ve learned quite a bit and learned what attracts the most converting traffic. All the sites I set up now have good pageranks (including this one), generate a good amount of traffic and are now paying their way.
Many say that the first $100 is the hardest to earn and after that, revenue picks up since your sites are now more established and generating more traffic. It’s the gardening method of blogging; plant a lot of seeds and watch them grow. They’re growing well and hopefully, this time next year I’ll be generating a couple hundred dollars a month in revenue.
Blogging was never about ‘getting rich quickly’ for me. It was about creating supplemental income and honing my web development skills. Everything I’ve done up to now, helped me get my current job which is the best job I could possibly ask for. So, it’s worth continuing with the efforts.
Thanks for all your support and ad clicks! Please don’t hesitate to keep clicking!
What will I do with the money?
Put it away for my trip to England in the Spring.
